Find out more about the team here at NTC below!

Louis Roberts

Artistic Director
Louis first began his tenure here at NTC well over a decade ago on the InterAct training scheme as a terrified teenager, and although he has since definitely gotten older, he still stubbornly refuses to grow up.
He has gone on to graduate from trainee to fully fledged face puller and has appeared in many shows over the years and earned the title of “rural touring veteran”, or alternatively if you asked the office “that lad who refuses to go away”
in 2017, he became Associate Director and has moved more into writing and directing, something which he has found utterly fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable, and as of February 2020 he has taken over Artistic Director duties from Gillian Hambleton at NTC.

Karen Hirst

Finance Manager & Fundraising
Karen graduated with a degree in Accountancy and Finance (well somebody has to), from Humberside College of Higher Education in 1989. After working in the audit department at Bentley Jennison Chartered Accountants in Birmingham for 5 years; in 1994 she moved to Northumberland to be with her husband Rupert. She worked for Baker Tilly Chartered Accountants at their North East offices for 9 years where she worked in numerous areas: audit, small company accounts preparation, sole traders and partnerships, payroll, vat, management accounts and charities. When she left Baker Tilly she was one of the Business Services Department Managers specialising in charities and anything else that came along.
Following a brief detour into primary school teaching Karen has returned to her delight – charity accounting, Karen currently works for NTC Touring Theatre Company Limited and enjoys almost every minute of it. She has also just recently achieved a Diploma in Charity Accounting so she must be doing something right.

Natalie Barnes

Tours Administrator
Natalie joined NTC in 2018. She has seen her first theatre show ‘The Disasters of Johnny Armstrong and Other Daft Tales’ and loved it! She has rolled up her sleeves and experienced the workshop for ‘Heartspur’ as well as getting involved in all other aspects of the company from fundraising to front of house.
She is also enjoying meeting a wide variety of new people and is looking forward to building great relationships with our venues, actors and customers.

Stuart Hanrahan

Touring Stage Manager
Stuart has been a friend and supporter of the company for well over 10 years and in 2018, decided to take the plunge and train to become a stage manager full time. He has since worked on all of our touring productions and has become a valued member of the team. Stuart is first aid trained and has also passed his HGV training.

Kris Cairns

In-House Stage Manager

After 30 years working at Newcastle International Airport, Kris decided it was time for a change and so joined us last year as our Stage Manager for our in house panto, Beauty and the Beast and had a lovely time, and was affectionately known as “Uncle Kris” to all of the cast and crew!
