Dracula

Dracula

Devised and created by NTC and Stewart Howson from the novel by Bram Stoker.

Light, funny and daft but with strong storytelling and some genuinely scary moments, this is Gothic storytelling at its best: imaginative, atmospheric and physically exciting.

Appealing to family audiences it features all the anticipated elements of the story: wolves, bats and the Brides of Dracula with plenty of audience participation, humour and music.

Suitable for ages 13+.

Barnaby Rudge

Barnaby Rudge

Following on from Stewart Howson’s hugely successful adaptation of Dickens’ ‘The Old Curiosity Shop’ NTC will be touring ‘Barnaby Rudge’ in autumn 2017.

“ A triumph, the finest theatre I’ve seen for years, dynamic, powerful and highly enjoyable, two hours of riveting entertainment”

Set against the backdrop of the Gordon Riots of 1780, ‘Barnaby Rudge’ is absolutely a play for today. A story of mystery and suspense which begins with an unsolved double murder, goes on to involve conspiracy, blackmail, abduction and retribution, and features Grip, a talking pet raven . Through the course of the play fathers and sons become opposed, apprentices plot against their masters and there are violent clashes on the streets. And, as London erupts into riot, Barnaby Rudge struggles to escape the curse of his own past. With its high drama, strange secrets and ghostly doublings, Barnaby Rudge is a powerful blend of historical realism and ‘grotesque’ melodrama.

Told through Stewart Howson’s unique interpretation, this will be NTC at its physical and Gothic best.
