Alarm dispatcher and former police officer, Asger Holm, answers an emergency call from a kidnapped woman. When the call is suddenly disconnected, the search for the woman and her kidnapper begins. By the light of the parlour fire, Victorian’s (led by Dickens) re-established the tradition of telling ghost tales at Christmas and delighted in chilling the hearts of their listeners.

In keeping with this midwinter tradition, Actor and Playwright Stewart Howson, has been keeping modern audiences on the edge of their seats for some years with his mixture of Victorian and modern ghost stories. Now he’s bringing his story-telling skills to The Dovecote Centre in an Evening of “Strange Tales”.

Modern-day Cornish fisherman Martin (Edward Rowe) is struggling to buy a boat while coping with family rivalry and the influx of London money, Airbnb and stag parties to his harbour village. The summer season brings simmering tensions between the locals and newcomers to boiling point, with tragic consequences.
